This will provide better electrical safety to your home but more importantly, your family. A consumer unit will also ensure your home is up to the current standards of the electrical regulations.

I recommend a new style consumer unit with MCB’s (minute circuit breakers) and RCD’s (Residual Circuit Devices). This will protect your socket circuits and will even allow safe usage of outdoor appliances such as lawnmowers. RCD’s are much more sensitive than older alternatives, they can detect a tiny current change but more importantly they disconnect in a fraction of a second, massively reducing the risk of an electrical shock. It can be a matter of life and death. I really don’t want to scare you, but it’s my job and concern to make youaware of the risks.
A less serious benefit is that the new consumer units are much more aseptically pleasing.
